It's high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion makes it ideal for chloride environments. 316 marine grade stainless steel weld-on half coupling / bungs / fittings have outstanding welding characteristics and post-weld annealing is not required when welding to thin materials. TiG welding is the preferred method for attachment of these fittings to flat surfaces, but can be adapted to round.
